In this post, I’d like to point you to a master thesis done by Mateusz Łapiński at the Warsaw University of Technology, Faculty of Civil Engineering.
The master thesis focuses on BIM methodology and its applications in infrastructure projects. On the basis of obtained materials, Mateusz made a parametric 3D model of the structure using additional applications cooperating with Tekla Structures. In parallel, the analytical model is generated in Grasshopper to perform its analysis in SOFiSTiK FEA.
The presented bridge is currently being built in Malopolska Province, Poland. The bridge will be located in Kurow and will be a crossing over the Dunajec River along the DK75 national road connecting Nowy Sacz with Krakow.
And although the model and outcome of the thesis weren’t used for the real project; The workflow used gives a very good understanding of the interoperability of Rhino/Grasshopper – Tekla – SOFiSTiK.
